Introduction

After a very rewarding 40 year career as a teacher, specialist and administrator, I have finally retired! Halleluiah and thanks be to God for the most rewarding career a person can have!
Born and raised in Rio Grande Valley but left for the "wicked city" of Houston where I met and married my only sweetheart. My best creation with certainty are my 2 children, who are now grown and have careers of their own. I love dogs and have always been a child and animal rights advocate. Hobbies include reading, gardening, mall walking, watching TV, Church, getting together with friends on Facebook and casinos when money is available. Am very adventurous and do not look or act my age! Love all genre of music except Rap, and especially the symphony and theater. Wish I could dance, so need a partner with forgiving feet who can teach me. Am very gregarious and love to talk. Was just introduced to fishing and am getting used to it, although I refuse to bait my line or clean fish.
Love the beach and the mountains for it is here that I feel closest to God.

What I'd like to do on a first date...

I feel that first dates can be as anxious as dating back in high school days! So I would like this date to be very relaxed and carefree. Perhaps a walk together at the park, the Botanical Gardens, or The Zoo will be the perfect setting for conversation about one another where we can laugh and relax. If all goes well, we can end the walk over a cup of coffee at Starbucks!

My past relationships have taught me...

In the few but important relationships that I've had in the past I have allowed my heart instead of my brain to lead the way. Consequently, I have made some hasty decisions which are now dictating the way I should now proceed in my search for that "made in heaven" relationship. What I have learned is that there should be as much common ground between the two people as possible. They do say that "opposites" attract, but in my case, they did, and they didn't work out. It should be more than ATTRACTION! Now I am looking for someone who is on the same wave length, same background, same religion, same goals, same likes and dislikes (more or less) and same intentions for a love relationship. The more commonalities the better and stronger foundation to start building a "forever ever after" type of friendship first then in time, love! Oh, and the lesson learned is that one shouldn't enter a relationship with the expectation of CHANGING the other person. The only person that likes to be changed is a baby with a dirty diaper!

To me, being a Catholic means...

Being Catholic means that I believe in the Blessed Trinity, that God sent His only son, Jesus, to die for our sins and reopen Heaven for us and that someday He will come again to judge living and dead. I believe in the 10 commandments and the 7 Sacraments of the Church, which is one universal Body of Christ. I believe that the Pope is the direct successor of Peter and that Christ founded His Church on him. I believe that Christ will come again and that I for one hope and pray that I will be reunited with Him in heaven.

In five years, I see myself

Was an educator for 40 somewhat years, and retired this May, 2012. I told my children that I would retire for good when they made me a grandmother, but neither one is in any hurry to make that happen. So, I retired anyway with the expectation of seeing myself in 5 years, hosting Christmases, birthdays, Thanksgivings, and all other special events with my children, grandchildren, "grand-dogs", and of course my beloved man who is now my beloved husband along side his and my family as we have joined the two and become the newest "Brady Bunch!"

My favorite Bible passage is...

I love the Sermon on the Mount, for it is here that we saw Jesus as the Greatest Teacher. This inspired me to become a teacher too. My favorite passage is Psalm 91, because it shows my trust in My Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress. I have had many trials and tribulations throughout my life but He has never let any harm come to me or my loved ones. Every second of my life, I have rested with the security and peace knowing that I rest in Him and that He holds me in His blessed hands always and forever! What more security could I want?

One final thing I'd like to mention...

I am a sports fanatic! I love spectator sports, especially collegiate football with Notre Dame and TCU my favorite teams. I am thrilled that our Mavs and Rangers have reached the top and I still hope for redemption of The Cowboys..for I am of the "old time Cowboys" since Tom Landry and I are from the same hometown! Go Rangers! Go Mavs! Go Irish! Go Frogs! Go Cowboys!
